Nicholas Pester PhD

Senior Geochemist

Nicholas has deep expertise in integrating field and experimental observations with geochemical modeling of natural and engineered geosystems. He holds a PhD in geology/chemistry from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. He spent an additional decade doing research, first as a postdoctoral fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and then as a research scientist at the University of California, Berkeley. His portfolio broadly includes fundamental aspects of physical chemistry, fluid-mineral phase equilibria, and kinetics of mineral dissolution and isotope exchange with application to ore-forming hydrothermal fluids, geothermal systems, and mechanisms for carbon capture/storage and mineral carbonation.
