Joel Bandstra PhD

Joel specializes in modeling and simulation of complex environmental systems. Drawing on experience in geochemical kinetics and computational science, he builds parsimonious models to aid decision-making on mining and reclamation projects.

He received a PhD in environmental engineering from the Oregon Health & Science University, and did postdoctoral training in geochemistry at the Pennsylvania State University, where he served as the Kinetics Synthesis Specialist in the Center for Environmental Kinetics Analysis. He was the founding professor in environmental engineering at Saint Francis University where he continues to lead courses in water resources engineering, transport processes, and environmental modeling. His publication record attests to an abiding interest in advancing the state-of-the-art in modeling reaction kinetics and analyzing environmental data.
